Product description
Descrizione
Since 1816, Scotch Single Malt Whisky Lagavulin has been produced in a setting of picturesque buildings on Lagavulin Bay on the beautiful island of Islay, overlooking Dunyvaig Castle. The name derives from the Gaelic "Laggan Mhoullin", which means "small valley near the mill". Intense, rich in peat, sweet and salty, it is one of the most intense and peaty whiskeys in the world. It is an 'essential' Scotch Whiskey that every connoisseur or enthusiast must have in their collection; one of the most beloved malt whiskeys in the world. A highly sought-after single malt aged in oak barrels for at least sixteen years, with a massive peat smoking but also offering dryness that turns it into a really interesting whiskey. Revered by connoisseurs and experts, Lagavulin 16 Anni is a reference whiskey from the Lagavulin distillery, known as "the King of Islay".
On the nose, this full-bodied Single Malt features intense notes of peat smoke, accompanied by hints of iodine and algae, and a rich, deep sweetness. The dry, peaty taste fills the palate with a gentle and strong sweetness followed by touches of sea, salt and wood. The finish is persistent, elegant and strongly peated, with intense notes of salt and algae. It is best served in a traditional whiskey glass, smooth or with a drop of plain water. Winner of the 2015 Outstanding Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
